Inspirational Life Award

The All Ireland Inspirational Life Award is a celebration of Older People who exemplify an active inspirational life in later years. The award also recognises people and organisations that foster a positive approach to Older People’s issues.

Speaking about the All Ireland Inspirational Life Award, Senator Mary White said,

  • It is increasingly clear that Older People represent an important resource for industry, public services, and the economy, but that the framework for developing an environment supportive of older people leaves much room for improvement. The Inspirational Life Award aims to recognise the achievements of older people, to promote the rights of older people and to encourage the development of an All Ireland positive ageing and anti-ageism campaign.
  • With Positive Ageing Week fast approaching, I am calling on people throughout Ireland to nominate someone from their local area for this prestigious award. It is only by you, the nominator, putting a person or organisation forward for this award that will afford us the opportunity to highlight their dedication to older people’s issues and to celebrate the contribution of older people in later years.
  • Now more than at any other time in recent history, we need to be inspired by greatness. I know there are inspirational people and inspiring stories in communities across the whole island. This award recognises that and I look forward to the public backing this drive and sending in their entries.

Nominations can be made online by visiting www.irishtimes.com/events/inspirational or by post. Entry forms are available online, from (01) 6183820 or e-mail mwhite@oireachtas.ie.

The All Ireland Inspirational Life Award is sponsored by BT, The Irish Times, and Vodafone.
